At one point in your life, I am sure that you have admired some great person. Most of the time, it is because they admired person achieved reputable fetes, or because he was a good orator. The way he spoke or the way he conquered his enemies was just admirable to you. You wanted to use his words in some SAT vocabulary test. This great person is not necessarily a historical figure but a person who is alive now; maybe your father. Your father could be a great motivational speaker but have you ever thought that motivation, especially motivating someone to do something is evil. Well-known educators have talked vastly about motivation. They have said that motivation is some sort of encouragement that helps one believe in oneself. When it comes to persuasion, motivation is selfish. Instead of making one believes in oneself. You make him believe in you. In motivation, you persuade someone to do something you want and one should like doing it. Here, you make sure that the receiver has all to gain and nothing to lose.
This is because people have two major motivations. These motivations are the desire for gain and the fear of loss. Humans always want to gain more and more and by showing them that they can gain something by helping you achieve your goals, you can motivate them to act on your behalf. The same applies for the fear of loss. If you persuade someone that he will lose something when he does what you do not support, then he will more than likely be motivated to do what you support. The fear of loss is a greater motivation than the desire to gain. This is because people are more protective than they are adventurous.
This is the reason why investors are very few in this world. There are a small number of people who are willing to risk what they have. There is a theory also that suggests that the more you risk, the likely your chances of gaining. This is actually true when you begin to look at the great investors. People like Carlos Slim and Warren Buffet are the biggest risk takers on the planet. If you read a number of books, you will see that these guys are currently the richest individuals in this world. They do not just sit in some place and talk about riches; they actually go after them. If you really want to be like them, then you have to rise and start walking like Johnny Walker. Riches do not just grow on some tree outside in your compound. They are treasures that if you want to acquire, you must seek. You should open your eyes, ears and mouth so as to get these elusive treasures. A musician called Ice Cube once said that you must use your mind, mouth and your muscle some times. I fully agree with him. You have got to be an assertive being if you want to enjoy what God put on this earth for you to enjoy, or maybe you can forget what I am saying because I am trying to motivate you. Remember, motivation is selfish but I also want you to be rich.
