One of the most important things in golf is tempo. If you want to hit it long and consistent, you've got to do some tempo training for your golf swing. Most golfers ignore this, and struggle for distance and consistency indefinitely. Just look at the tour players. They all have great tempo. They look so smooth and effortless and yet they all bomb it out there!
So how can you work on and improve golf swing tempo?
It's not just a matter of swinging easy. That's easier said than done!
You've got to great some type of program that you do consistently to ingrain in your body and muscles the proper tempo and speed of your swing; especially your downswing.
There are several training aid on the market that can certainly help you improve this critical factor, but I only use one at this time. It's easy to get caught up in training aids, and then all you've got is a "62-point" checklist before every swing.
What I want you to think about is a simple golf swing. One that with a little bit of training, results in consistently hitting it 20 or more yards longer, as well as finding the fairway more often.
Tempo is different for every golfer. Look at Nick Price. Fast tempo, but one of the best ball strikers to every play the game. Then you have silky smooth Ernie Els, or Fred Couples. Seems like a lot slower tempo, but absolutely, they both crush the golf ball.
So whether you use a training aid, or some kind of a golf drill, I hope you work on your tempo training for a better golf swing.
