Jobs at sea are the most sought after for the sheer thrill they offer. The fun of being under the sky and on top of the deep blue sea, moving from one port to another is a prospect most young people fall for. Jobs on Ships range from technical to ones that require hospitality services. Shipping companies are advertising from time to time posts vacant on their vessels. Recruitment process goes on round the year as shipping magnates’ head-hunt for the best they can find. Vacancies are always there for anyone whom the sea beckons. There are also jobs off the board for those who have problems or constraints related to a job that takes them to the sea. The employment on a ship ranges from highly technical to jobs that require raw hands. It is very unlikely for a willing candidate to be on a port and not have a job, because there is such a lot of work to be done and a job for everyone to do.

Jobs at sea could be on the vessel or off it. For cargo liners, there is a requirement of candidates for jobs on the coast as much as there is for Jobs on Ships as a good number of staff is required in the loading of containers, keeping records and taking care of the documentation. Shipping firms keep hiring people and pay them well to in keeping with the candidates’ aptitude and commensurate with the hard work put in. Vacancies on ships never see a slump, as there are several openings. A job at sea is seen as a golden opportunity by and for the young and rearing to go, for the great exposure they offer and the wonderful opportunity they give of traveling to new and faraway destinations of the world. The jobs are widely advertised and whether through a placement agent or directly approaching the shipping company can land any willing candidate a suitable and highly fulfilling job.

Technological advances have made shipping a lot safer and faster than it was in the years gone by. But the sea has continued to hold its adventure and romance. It is now a far more fulfilling experience reaching or sending from one part of the globe to another. Shipping recruitment enjoys a major share in providing employment all over the world and Jobs at Sea have continued to be the preference of trained and untrained personnel everywhere.

There are different types of ships carrying different loads. There are cargo liners that exclusively carry merchandise. In these there can be those shipping oil, petrol, chemicals, weapons or explosives and they require a different kind of handling. They need specialized staff with the necessary knowledge of how the load has to be reached safely to its destination. Highly qualified and technically adept personnel are needed for such cargo. On the other hand, ships ferrying commodities require a different kind of handling. The norms of packaging are spelt out to the exporters as well as importers and the responsibility is shared and insured by the merchant and the maritime firms.
